What is a TEDx talk?
TED talks are short, powerful talks (18 minutes or less) and began at a conference in 1984 where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged. Today, TED and TEDx talks cover almost all topics — from science to business to global issues — in more than 100 languages. Independently run TEDx events such as TEDxLukelyBrook help to share ideas in communities around the world. Our speakers bring ‘Ideas Worth Spreading’ to our venue, watch party and online through the live stream, plus as TEDx Talk videos on the TEDx YouTube Channel with over 32 million subscribers.

'The Future of Energy’
How renewable energy will change the way we go about daily life.
Dr Adrian Gill is a leading expert in wind turbine blades, the part of a turbine designed to extract energy from the wind. As Chief Engineer of Blades at Vestas, a global leader in sustainable energy, Adrian has dedicated his career to expanding the capabilities of blades, making them bigger, more efficient, and ready to support a world powered fully by renewable energy. Over the last 15 years, Adrian has seen the wind industry transform from a niche, highly subsidized energy source, to the most competitive source of power in the world where one turbine can power 20,000 homes. He has helped evolve wind energy technology to a point where it now supplies over a quarter of the UK’s electricity supply, and is rapidly growing across the world. Adrian firmly believes in the potential of wind energy to stop the world’s addiction to fossil fuels, and in paving the way for a more sustainable future. In his talk, Adrian will explore what this future will look like, and how renewable energy will change the way we go about daily life.“

'Dear Mr Bin Man'
Can one person redesign the economy and make sustainability a reality?
‘Blind people do not use the Internet. How can they?
They cannot see the screen.’
Most websites fail to meet the needs of people with disabilities, but it doesn’t need to be that way if you make it possible for them to do so!
Clive Loseby has one aim: To Change the World, One Website at a Time. A horrific car accident in 1989 left life-changing injuries and personal experience of the prejudice and challenges that disabled people face daily. That experience has been the driving force behind his passion for making the Internet a truly accessible environment ever since.
A Global Leader in Website Accessibility for Disabled People, Clive founded Access by Design in 2006 with Jess Loseby and was responsible for creating the world’s first fully-accessible, mobile and tablet-friendly website in 2011. Something recognised in their receiving the Product Innovation Award in the Observer Business Awards in 2015 and further awards acclaim in 2018.
As a recognised expert on accessibility his approach is inclusive, honest and to the point. His insights go beyond that of others. A renowned public speaker for over 12 years, Clive is extremely engaging. People who listen to him come away educated, inspired and never look at websites in quite the same way again. Every person who hears his message takes away simple steps that will truly make a difference – One Website at a Time.
James Green is a global business leader and undeniably one of the most respected and highest-profile figures in the highly competitive international financial industry. He is a game-changer in the FinTech (Financial Technology) space, playing a key role in reshaping and redefining, in epic fashion, the way financial services are delivered.
As Group Investment Director for deVere Group and Divisional Director Europe & Latin America, James manages assets of more than £1 billion across offices in France, Switzerland, Spain, Italy, Germany and Mexico, supported by a professional team of more than 100 consultants and 70 administrative and support staff.
Core to this success are his enviable leadership capabilities, eye for detail, decisiveness, work ethic, hands-on approach, and positive attitude – someone who understands the value of urgency and, how without it, you cannot experience real success. His winning Emerging Talent of the Year at the highly acclaimed International Investment Awards at the age of just 32 bear’s testimony to an approach to business and life that sets him apart from others.
Getting up at 5 am each day and always ‘the first in and last out’ in whichever of the offices he happens to be in James uses his talent, experience and passion to inspire others and generate the momentum that leads to infinite opportunities – and in doing so enables his team to fulfil their maximum potential.
A believer in the theory of ‘early advantage’ James brings his mantra to TEDxLukelyBrook that ‘if you kill time you murder success.’ He truly understands that successful people are the ones who put habits and actions into place NOW.
‘If you kill time you murder success.’
Time is finite, we get one shot. Procrastination is the biggest killer of success. The key to success is urgency and the ability to take action now, not tomorrow. But how?
